Discover what Roman Britain was like at the remains of this important Roman staging post and settlement, including mansio (Roman Inn) and Bathhouse.

Letocetum was an important Roman military fort and was established here along the Roman road of Watling Street in the early part of the 1st century AD. Letocetum was used as a posting station during the Roman advance into Wales, providing accommodation, baths, change of horses etc.

The fort developed into a settlement and eventually a Roman-British town acting as a staging post for Roman travellers for bathing and accommodation.

The museum beside the site has Roman archaeology found at the site and locally.

Letocetum is owned by the National Trust and under the guardianship English Heritage.

Guided walks which bring to life what it was like at Letocetum during Roman occupation and are regularly held on days when the museum is manned by volunteers.

There are steps to the open-air site, although the Museum entrance is flat. The site also has toilet facilities that are only available when the museum is manned by volunteers
